Ilir Alimehmeti, who withdrew from the primary race of the Democratic Party after appearing in a runoff with Belind Kelliçi, showed today in "Wake-up" his journey and expectations in politics.

Alimehemeti showed that it all started from a strong conscience, as he said, to change something in the city and community where he sees the future. He said that he was proposed by DP structures and realized that many people supported his candidacy.

"The decision to participate in the primary was very simple. If you are a citizen in this city, you see a lot of things that go wrong. The conscience does not leave you that you can do something for this country. This is community consciousness. The word Municipality means community. They forget that things happen if you are passive, understandably within the possibilities. There was a big push, people who supported my candidacy. A large number of people wanted my candidacy. I was proposed by the structure to a large extent" - said Alimehmeti.

Regarding the results of the 4th of December when the PD primaries took place, as he thanked his supporters, Alimehmeti said that the high percentage of votes for someone who just entered politics was a clear indication that people wanted change.

"A big thank you for supporting me that day. Support was active. About 8,600 people came to vote, about 2,000 of them supported me. It was a clear sign of change. The percentage of people looking for change for the better is huge. The other two figures were leaders and registrars. It's not like the race was half-baked. We were facing a mathematical runoff, but not a political one," said Alimehmeti.

Asked by moderator Blendi Salaj if he thinks he would be stronger in the May 14 race against Erion Veliaj than Belind Kelliçi, Alimehmeti said "yes".

"Do you think you would be a stronger candidate against Erion Veliaj than Kelliçi?"

"Yes. That's why I ran" - said Alimehmeti.

The doctor did not leave without mentioning the attack on Sali Berisha three days ago at the protest, which he described as an assassination attempt.

"I would call the attack an assassination. Such a blow, under those circumstances, has a 24% chance of loss of life. We should have thought the worst about the attack on the historic leader. Everything is in one hand, Here is the problem. We need a calmer discourse" - Alimehmeti said, among other things.
