"Big thefts with the incinerators and the Port of Durrës"/ Floriana Garo makes a strong statement against the prime minister

Written by SOT.COM.AL 9 Dhjetor 2022

The spokesperson of the Democratic Party, Floriana Garo, says that corruption is one of the most alarming concerns in our country. On the International Anti-Corruption Day, Garo said that Albania, under the leadership of Edi Rama, has surrendered to this phenomenon.
In a statement to the media, Garo drew attention to the affairs for which the government is accused, from the incinerators to the Port of Durrës and Butrinti.
She brought to attention a report of the "Leadership of Southeast Europe for Development and Integration" organization, according to which Albania has the highest pressure and involvement in corruption in the Western Balkans.
"In the wake of the thefts and the reports on them, just one day before the international day of the fight against corruption, a report of the satellite organization in Brussels "Leadership of Southeast Europe for Development and Integration", brings us new alarming findings. According to this latest report, Albania has the highest pressure and involvement in corruption in the Western Balkans for all indicators, such as seeking bribes, giving, acceptability of corruption, falling prey to it and even state capture by businesses" - says among others in her Garo statement.
Floriana Garo's full statement:
December 9 marks the International Anti-Corruption Day; simultaneously and unfortunately for Albania, the fact that the state has been privatized by a political clique and captured by corrupt personal interests. The Democratic Party notes with alarm, based on international reports, that Albania under Edi Rama is surrendering and kneeling before this phenomenon. Corruption remains an alarming concern, becoming an obstacle for Albania's progress and integration into the European Union. The last report of the European Commission, which was published about two months ago, was a "slap" for Albania.
The report emphasized that no political will has been shown to fight the phenomenon of corruption. Let's understand, and translate the term "corruption" which has been softened and self-cancelled by overuse:
Corruption is all the thefts of Edi Rama and his ministers, the elephantine thefts, with the chilies, the Port of Durrës and the Butrint affair. Thefts with the roads, which are built at a price 8 times higher than in the EU; thefts and wastes in the budget with over 8.2 billion euros, according to the High State Control. It is these thefts that make Albania the most corrupt country in Europe.
In the wake of the thefts and the reports on them, just one day before the international day of the fight against corruption, a report of the Brussels satellite organization "Leadership of Southeast Europe for Development and Integration", brings us new alarming findings.
According to this latest report, Albania has the highest pressure and involvement in corruption in the Western Balkans for all indicators, such as seeking bribes, giving, acceptability of corruption, falling prey to it and even state capture by businesses.
"Albania appears to be the country most affected by high administrative corruption in the region, where 57% of citizens are asked for bribes at least occasionally and 47% participate in corruption transactions". In contrast, according to the report, Serbia remains the country with the lowest level of corruption pressure in the region, while Kosovo has the lowest level of actual involvement in corruption activities, with 20% of citizens having paid bribes compared to 23% in Serbia. The pressure indicator for state capture by businesses, which focuses on the pressure of monopolization at the national, sectoral or institutional level, sees Albania with 45%, the highest in the region. This is Edi Rama's Albania, the first in the corruption hit parade. Despite the rumors that the EU holds summits here, it is the EU with its reports that blows away all propaganda.
With the thieves in the government and the government with its hands in your pockets, Albania is in danger and we must get rid of it!
