May 14 elections/ Dashamir Shehi reveals for the first time why the negotiations with Berisha failed

The head of LZHK, Dashamir Shehi, said that they did not enter into a coalition with Sali Berisha and Ilir Meta, since the latter chose to appear in the elections with two candidates for mayor instead of one.

Invited to a TV show, he emphasized that if the opposition came up with a joint candidate, he would support it.

Shehi further underlined that he is not of the same opinion as Berisha and Meta while adding that people who have been in power for 30 years have no hope.

"There is a life that we tell him to make an attempt for a common candidate. To find a formula that would be modern. To choose through a poll. To expand more, opposition supporters for the single candidate needed another election. Somehow we have overcome these in a bigger form which is the fight against Rama. The goal was to put out a candidate and support everyone as the opposition, that was our job.

Whoever thinks that we should all think like Berisha and Meta is wrong, because we don't think like that, we think differently. We have other ideas for the Albania of tomorrow. The people who have been in power for 30 years do not represent the great hope," he said.
