Elections in Kukës, Celibashi: Everything has been prepared according to technical protocols

On Sunday, the process of partial elections for the head of the Kukes municipality is expected to take place. Chief Commissioner Ilirjan Celibashi has given more details today about Klan Nea regarding the preparation by the CEC for the vote that will be carried out.

In a television interview, Celibashi said that so far everything has gone well, without problems.

"The process went well, we have not identified any problems. All those who will work as operators of electronic voter identification devices in these elections have been identified. More or less we have to say, everything is ready for Sunday's elections in Kukes. I do not want to comment on the judgment of the Prime Minister or others regarding the electronic identification and the problems of this system that appeared on May 14, the main thing is the fact that the problem presented that day was not to the extent that it received that echo and that interest , as demonstrated on May 14. It has had the most impact in general for the development of voting.

We have addressed these problems, there were no problems with the equipment for their safety, they were used in 2021 and there were no problems, even on May 14. Everything has been prepared properly according to all technical protocols," said Celibashi.

The Central Election Commission will spend 25.5 million ALL for these elections, but Celibashi denied having reserve funds from the May 14 local elections.

"The CEC is not an institution that produces income, so it receives its budgets from public funds, approved through the law on the state budget, in general, our requests for funding for the preparation of the election process have been met almost 100%."

He also stated that the results of these elections will be released within the deadline set by law.

"It would be good for us to keep it in mind, we have created a good experience regarding the deadline within which we announce the results of the elections. In almost 99% of electoral units, the result appeared within the set deadline, the process of counting votes did not continue for days or weeks. We will work closely with the representatives of the two entities that have presented candidates in these elections, SP and PD, and contribute to the counting process starting as soon as possible, I believe we will have this understanding for the process."

There are a total of 45,828 citizens with the right to vote, who on Sunday go to the ballot boxes to elect the mayor of Kukes.
