The local elections and the affair of the incinerators cause a "storm" in the SP, Rama expels Ahmetaj from Vlora and replaces him with Blendi Klos, Majko is appointed leader in Kukës
Written by Rigels Seliman 28 Shtator 2022
As the newspaper "TODAY" has warned, yesterday's meeting of the Presidency of the Socialist Party was accompanied by a "storm" of dismissals in the ranks of political leaders and their replacement with new names as we are on the verge of local elections. Thus, Arben Ahmetaj, who once held the position of number two of the executive and that of the Minister of Finance and Economy in "difficult" times, as Prime Minister Rama expressed it at that time, seems to have emerged as the loser of this meeting as he will no longer has no leadership position in the Socialist Party. Ahmetaj previously held the post of political leader of Vlora, thus being replaced by Blendi Klosi. Klosi, who in the past held the position of Minister of Tourism, while currently holding the position of Organizational Secretary of the pink headquarters, now seems to have new responsibility. But despite this, SP sources told the newspaper that the reason why Rama decided to expel Ahmetaj is the fact that he is accused by the opposition of being involved in the incinerator affair. So with this move to remove him as district leader, the prime minister did it precisely because of the opposition's attacks on him and that if he did not act in this way, he would be a cost to the Socialist Party in the local elections of the year that comes.
Bilali is dismissed as political leader of SP in Shkodër
But it seems that the recent debates in the SP of Shkodra have "cost dearly" to the Minister of State for Entrepreneurship. In the Presidency meeting led by the Prime Minister, who is also the leader of the Socialist Party, it was decided that she will no longer lead the Shkodra district, being replaced by another minister, Elisa Spiropali, who until yesterday evening also held the position of leader political party of the SP in Kukas next to Safet Gjici. Shkodra is one of the right-wing bastions that has not been broken by the socialists, and it seems that Spiropal, the prime minister, has entrusted a difficult battle, considering that he also needs to unite the recently divided socialists.
Majko returns, Rama ignores the "Foltor" primaries
However, the meeting of the Presidency has once again returned to the base, the former socialist prime minister, Pandeli Majko, who has been entrusted with a difficult district for leftists like Kukësi. In this position, Majko will succeed the Minister of State for Relations with the Parliament, Elisa Spiropali, who will lead the district of Shkodra. Majko previously held the position of Minister for Diaspora in the "Rama 2" cabinet. Meanwhile, when asked by journalists about the primaries, Rama said that this is a technique that will not be applied in the SP, which will continue with the old method of appointing candidates by the Party chairman at the proposal of the Presidency. The head of the Rozë headquarters did not give details about the recent dismissals and appointments of political leaders in some districts and avoided the question of what had led to the dismissal of Arben Ahmetaj.
Rama comments on the closing of the Turkish college
On the other hand, the closure of the Turkish college 'Mehmet Akif' has again been in the center of attention. Prime Minister Edi Rama responded again to the accusations that the college was closed at the request of the Turkish president, Recep Erdogan. After the Presidency meeting, Rama emphasized to the media again that the college had not respected the law, by selling the building where it had permission to develop the activity, and had moved it to another building without obtaining permission. Even. the head of the government declared that no one can pressure him for the decisions he takes, as he is the prime minister of Albania elected by the Albanian citizens.
