"We have annexed Kosovo, it was taken from Serbia", Croatian President Milanovic comes out with the unexpected statement

Croatian President Zoran Milanovic is known for his controversial statements on topics that cause a stir even outside the borders of Croatia. Milanovic has often made such statements about Croatia's role in the war in Ukraine. He made a statement today that could be a diplomatic scandal, Croatian media reports.

The President of Croatia has made a comment regarding Kosovo, drawing a kind of parallel between the Crimea annexed by Russia and Kosovo, which according to him was "taken" by Serbia.

When asked by journalists if he supports the recognition of Kosovo, he confirmed that his country has already done so.

"The Russians are cynical, they will call for the annexation of Kosovo, which I support," said the Croatian president. 

Meanwhile, the journalist's immediate reaction was, "who has annexed Kosovo?"

"The international factor, we. Kosovo was taken from Serbia. Have we known Kosovo, yes. Do I stay with Kosovo, yes. But when something is done without the will of the state, to which Kosovo belonged, which is Serbia - it was only a matter of time when the Russians or a third party would do the same," Milanovic added.

"I have many friends there, so I am not questioning the issue of Kosovo, I believe you understand what I am talking about, but the whole concept is being questioned", said Milanovic.
