Alliance for Albanians in the government? Negotiations begin in Skopje, the last

North Macedonia will start negotiations with local factors to expand the ruling coalition. According to "Alsat M", Prime Minister Dimitar Kovacevski will meet tomorrow with the head of the Alliance for Albanians, Arben Taravari, whom he will officially invite to the government.

"We will also talk about possible cooperation and we will also talk about legal and programmatic solutions that will be able to advance the capacity of the state, the capacity of the Assembly and of course the approval of those decisions that mean the continuation of the European path and the realization of our goal, to be a member of the EU in 2030," said Kovacevski. Meanwhile, on the other hand, Tavari spoke about a "package" with conditions that he will demand from Prime Minister Kovacevski.

"The package of measures that we have proposed will be the main request, one of the five main requests that we have. If they are not ready then I think soon we should end this story. Either we will come to an agreement or we will continue in the opposition and act as we have done for these 7-8 years ," Taravari added.

Ziadin Sela, who in August 2022 resigned from the leadership of this opposition party after its defeat in the August 20 elections in Tetovo for the municipal assembly, will also be part of the team of negotiators.

The chances of full membership in the EU until 2030 are real, according to Prime Minister Dimitar Kovacevski, therefore he invites everyone to show maturity to take advantage of the moment and make changes to the Constitution. But according to him, everything can be done with what the prime minister has named as the "European front".

The amendment of the Constitution must be done for the inclusion of the Bulgarian minority in it, as a state-forming people, otherwise Sofia can again block the continuation of talks between the EU and North Macedonia. This obligation for the Macedonian authorities is foreseen by the agreement between the two countries, which is based on what is known as the "French proposal" for the resolution of disputes about the language, identity and historical past between the two countries.

The changes are approved in the Assembly with two thirds, or with 80 out of 120 votes of deputies. However, the parliamentary majority currently has 75 votes, as if the Alliance for Albanians became part of the Government. In other words, five votes are missing, which are required from the ranks of the Macedonian opposition. However, the head of the opposition VMRO DPMNE, Hristijan Mickoski, said that no one has received a mandate in the elections to change the Constitution.

According to him, in the last elections, no political party presented the amendment of the Constitution as part of its program. For this reason, Mickoski considers that early elections are the only way for citizens to say what they think and in which direction North Macedonia should move in the next period.
