The deputy director of the Police Directorate for the Fight against Organized Crime, Dejan Knezhevi?, has been arrested in an action of the Special Police Department of Montenegro, after being accused of being a structured criminal group and other crimes.

Montenegrin media reports that members of the Special Police Department (SPO) arrested Knezhevi? by order of the Special State Prosecutor's Office. So, the information about the arrest of Knezhevi? was also confirmed by the spokesperson of the Special State Prosecution, Vukas Radonji?.

"In continuation of the action that the Special Police Department undertakes together with the Special State Prosecutor's Office, and based on several months of investigations and coordination between the Special State Prosecutor's Office, the Special Police Department and the European Union Agency for Law Enforcement Cooperation - Europol, today the acting assistant director of the Police Directorate for the Anti-Crime Sector, DK, has been deprived of his liberty, under the suspicion of having committed the criminal offense of creating a criminal organization and other criminal offenses" - said Radonjic, emphasizing that The Special State Prosecutor's Office is expected to provide more details in the coming hours.

Dejan Knezhevi? is an employee and senior official of the Police Directorate. Previously, he headed the Department for the Fight against Drug Trafficking. He was appointed to the post of deputy director of the Police Directorate for Organized Crime at the beginning of March 2021. Knezhevi?'s mandate in that position was extended a few weeks ago.
