The Ministry of the Interior in North Macedonia has charged a 15-year-old teenager with terrorism.

According to the investigations carried out in North Macedonia, it turns out that the 15-year-old sent threatening texts by e-mail about bomb explosions to several schools in North Macedonia.

Although the threats turned out to be false, a criminal charge of terrorism has been filed against the 15-year-old.

"On 24.02.2023, the reported minor created an email address using his mobile phone and on the same day using his laptop computer, from his home he sent a message with threatening content to the official email address of a high school in Skopje, which after checks turned out to be fake", the Macedonian authorities announce.

The UK also adds: "At the same time, to hide his activities while sending the message, the minor used a VPN application. After the measures and activities undertaken by the Sector for computer crimes and digital forensics, the IP address used, the owner of which is the minor's father, has been established, and based on the warrant for house raids issued by the Basic Criminal Court of Skopje, it is raided the house of the minor's parent, from where the mobile phone, SIM card and laptop computer used by the minor were temporarily confiscated. From the expertise carried out, it was established that the same electronic address was used in some cases to send messages with threatening content to some schools in the territory of the city of Skopje from a mobile phone and from a laptop computer", say the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
