The Constitutional Court in Kosovo overturns the important law

The Constitutional Court of Kosovo has decided to declare the Law on the Prosecution Council of Kosovo invalid, following the request for an evaluation of the constitutionality of this law by the deputies of LDK and PDK.

In the announcement published to the media, the Constitutional Court has announced that after evaluating the law based on the demands of PDK and LDK deputies, some articles of this law have been assessed as inconsistent with the Constitution of Kosovo.

According to the decision of the Constitutional Court, the law contradicts the articles of the Constitution on the Form of Government and the Separation of Powers, the Powers of the Assembly, the Role of the Ombudsman, Equality before the Law, and the article on the Prosecutorial Council.

At the time when the opposition parties sent this law to the Constitutional Court, they said that it harms the independence of the prosecution system.
