Kurti for REL: I was not invited to the American embassy meeting for the association

The Prime Minister of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, has stated that he was not invited to the meeting that will be organized by the American embassy in Pristina on January 31, where the creation of the Association of municipalities with a Serbian majority in Kosovo will be discussed. He made this statement in an interview for Radio Free Europe.

Kurti emphasized that he was waiting for Escobar to say in Belgrade that Serbia should recognize Kosovo, and not to say in Pristina that the Association will take place, regardless of the Prime Minister of Kosovo. He reiterated that the European proposal is a good basis for discussion, but said that it does not contain everything that Kosovo would like.

Radio Free Europe: On January 31, the American Embassy in Kosovo will organize a meeting where the Association will be discussed. Will you attend this meeting?

Albin Kurti: I was not invited to that meeting, but those who were invited should go to that meeting and discuss it. But, I repeat, of the 33 Brussels agreements, not one can be chosen because there is no hierarchy. No artificial hierarchies can be created, except in chronological order. Meanwhile, on the other hand, even from the proposal of the European Union, it is not possible to select just any article, which is thought to include the Association of municipalities with a Serbian majority. So, I believe that this meeting is a consequence of the insistence of the official of the American State Department, who is also a special emissary for the Balkans and who has stated that, regardless of the Prime Minister of Kosovo, the Association must take place.

I have expected that he will declare in Belgrade that, regardless of the president of Serbia, Serbia should recognize Kosovo instead of saying in Pristina, regardless of the Prime Minister of Kosovo, the Association should be made.
