A possible massacre has been prevented in Athens. The Greek authorities have been able to destroy a network of terrorists who were preparing attacks on Jewish objects.
According to Greek media, two Pakistanis who were part of a wider network have been handcuffed.
This group was planning similar attacks in Cyprus. Cypriot media have reported that in October 2021, police arrested a Pakistani man on suspicion that he was planning to execute Israeli businessmen in Cyprus. The arrested person is suspected of working with one of the arrested persons in Greece.
The two arrested youths, aged 27 and 29, targeted a Jewish restaurant in Athens that also functioned as a synagogue. So far what has been proved even by the examination and analysis of the mobile phones of the two Pakistanis is that they kept talking about murder.
They referred to specific persons of Jewish origin. This element leads the analysts to the conclusion that the plan was first to attack the restaurant in Psirri and then to attack certain persons. According to the authorities, they would receive 15,000 euros for each person killed.
