The former American special envoy for Kosovo, Richard Grenell, reacted harshly to the Minister of Justice of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, after yesterday's tensions in the north of Kosovo.
Through a post on Twitter, Grenell writes that Kurti is the first leader to be condemned unanimously by Democrats and Republicans in the United States of America. Grenell also said that Kurti has ruined the strong relationship between the USA and Kosovo. Grenell also called President Vjosa Osmani's silence a problem, which he considered an affirmation.
"Foreign aid is not fair, however. The United States supports those we believe are advancing American values. You destroyed the strong connection between Kosovo and the United States. You are the first leader to be unanimously condemned by both Democrats and Republicans. The silence of the President of Kosovo, Vjosa Osmani, is a problem. Hashim Thaçi, we need you now" , writes Grenell.
What happened in the North of Kosovo?
The day before in the 4 municipalities with a Serbian majority in the north of Kosovo, alarm sirens were heard, where citizens also gathered in front of the municipal facilities in Zubin Potok, Zveçan and Leposavic. The situation worsened as gunshots were heard and tear gas was fired by the police to disperse the protesters who also burned cars. The protest took place as a sign of revolt by the Serbian protesters against the new Albanian mayors elected in the four municipalities with a Serbian majority.
