This is the secret that keeps vegetables, fruits, meat and fish fresh for a long time.

It often happens that we throw away vegetables and fruits which are moldy, withered or rotten. The same thing happens to us with chicken or fish which after a while changes flavor and we reject it for safety.
There are some tricks that help us preserve as long as possible all categories of vegetables, fruits, fresh spices, meat and fish.
Networks in which citrus fruits such as lemons or oranges are packaged are very dangerous for marine life and birds, so always buy these vegetables in free condition. You can keep them at room temperature, but once they have reached the peak of roasting and are a little softer, store them in the fridge (the same goes for avocados and tomatoes). If you really like citrus fruits, you can cut them into slices, put them inside ice cubes and use them in drinks.
Wash the lettuce leaves well, dry them and then cover them with paper napkins, store them in airtight food bowls and the leaves will remain green and will not wither.
Onions and potatoes
Onions and potatoes should be stored in a dark place to be fresh, for example inside a cupboard in a can. Do not keep them in plastic bags in order to avoid their germination. Once you have cut them, the onions should be stored in plastic bags in the refrigerator to be used for another week.
Wash the cucumbers as soon as you bring them home from the fruit and vegetable store. Be sure to dry them well as excess water spoils them. Then wrap each one in paper towels to prevent wilting. Store in the refrigerator in a reusable vegetable bag.
Apples and bananas
If you will not eat them right away, buy bananas when they are still green and keep them in the fruit basket, among other fruits. They emit large amounts of ethylene gas which rots other fruits faster. Keep them separate from each other to damage their breakage. Keep apples in an uncovered fruit bowl and protect from direct sunlight.
A good trick to preserve fresh spices like basil for example, you can chop the leaves in a food processor and place them in the shape we use to make ice cubes along with a little olive oil and save in the freezer.
Meat and fish
Arrange the meat and fish in the refrigerator well with labels that clearly show the date of entry into the freezer, as frozen meat must be consumed within three to six months.
