From lemon water to cranberry tea/ Here are the 4 "bio" drinks that cleanse your kidneys
Written by SOT.COM.AL 7 Tetor 2022
Your kidneys are responsible for regulating the water supply in your body 24/7. It is a critical job and the kidneys require as much fluid as possible. And the #1 fluid for healthy kidneys and their well-being is of course water. Why is water best for your kidneys?
"Water is your body's most important 'nutrient'," says nutritionist Andy Bazilian. The Institute of Medicine of the National Academies estimates that men need about 13 glasses of fluid a day, while women need about 9 glasses to function properly.
Drinks that can help keep your kidneys healthy.
"Berry juice has anti-adhesive properties that prevent bacteria from sticking to the urinary tract mucosa," Bazilian explains.
Drinking lemon water can improve kidney health for people who have or have had kidney stones, according to the National Kidney Foundation. Lemons contain citric acid, which can help prevent the growth and accumulation of crystals that form kidney stones.
Just as a cup of breakfast has been associated with a lower incidence of heart disease, recent clinical research published in 2022 in the journal Kidney International Reports suggests it may keep your kidneys healthy. The researchers found that people who consumed any amount of coffee had an 11% lower risk of developing acute kidney injury.
But what if your kidneys are not healthy?
The above drinks are good for healthy kidneys. If you have a kidney-related problem, such as chronic kidney disease, do not change your diet or the amount of fluids you drink before talking to your doctor. Having kidney disease means that the kidneys are not removing toxins and fluids from the blood as they are supposed to, so it is important to follow a healthy diet for them.
