According to a recently published study low vitamin D levels are associated with a higher risk of mortality from Covid-19. Previous studies suggest that 9 out of 10 deaths from the virus could have been prevented if people had adequate levels of vitamin D. During the winter, levels of this vitamin decrease because people are less exposed to the sun.

Dr. Peter Osborne told FOX 26 that vitamin D is one of the easiest and most affordable ways to help you stay healthy. He also stressed that to strengthen the immune system it is necessary to use four different layers - vitamins D, C, zinc and Quercetin, a natural bioflavonoid that opens cells in the body in order for zinc to enter.

Osborne suggested several dietary sources of vitamin D such as cod liver oil, fatty fish and mushrooms, which can help people achieve the recommended daily dose. "I recommend vitamin D therapy. 1,000 international units (IU) of vitamin D per pound.

So if you are 100 pounds, you would get 100,000 international units of vitamin D in three days. "After that, you do not have to continue to take higher doses, but three days with a high dose of vitamin D will raise your vitamin D levels to appropriate levels," Osborne explained.
