Doctor Ylli Merja said that people who are allergic should be very careful with poplar and maple pollen, plants which are planted in many streets of Tirana.
Invited to "Good Morning Albanians", Merja said that these pollens spread more in the air after 10:30, while the morning and late afternoon are not very problematic.
"There are many roads in Albania, especially in Tirana, that have been planted with maple trees. Its pollen and its flowers, when they are peeled off, release something like thorns which, especially when they get stuck in the eyelids, give strong itching of the eyes, irritations, redness and so on. This plant is a bully.
When can people walk on these roads, where are the turnips? Breakfast and dinner are ideal, because from 10:30 onwards the pollen floats in the air, and for allergy sufferers it is terrible. Even the poplar is annoying, it has a white fluff that becomes very problematic", said Ylli Merja.
