35 years since the goal in Belgrade, SOKOL KUSHTA: The office welcomed us with smiling faces, but with a moldy heart

35 years since the goal in Belgrade, SOKOL KUSHTA: The office welcomed us with

The failures of the national team in this edition of the League of Nations seem to have set us back many years, and for this "credit" goes to an Italian coach who came to the head of the Reds and Blacks with a splash and is likely to leave with big shadows of scandal over him. especially after the recent accusations that he was influenced by Inter not to activate Asllan, i.e. a coach who worked against the interests of the Albanian representative. Criticisms against him have not been few and of course another coach is expected to be appointed, this time with suggestions that even a local is very good. Among Reja's critics is Sokol Kushta, who has clearly hinted with his recent posts that the coach is to blame for this poor performance, while yesterday was the 35th anniversary of his masterpiece goal in Belgrade. , where Flamurtari would eliminate Serbian Partizan from the UEFA cup. This character, in fact, an icon of Albanian football and one of the best in the history of this game in Albania, is quite loved by readers not only for his contribution, but also for the originality of his thoughts and obviously saying things openly and in well of football. Even for this, Sokol Kushta deserves the respect of all of us.

- 35 years ago you would score in Belgrade one of the most beautiful goals of your career, and at the same time the most important. The video of the goal was shared by the deputy of Vlora, Bujar Leskaj, but also by many others. Today, after so many years, how do you judge the importance of the goal and that match with Partizan Belgrade?

- I was glad that Bujar distributed it, to remember the former values ??of our football. But I feel bad for journalists, those who deal with statistics, etc., who cannot remain silent in front of the facts. No one says that I was the Albanian player who first scored double-digit goals in the international arena. It seems that people among us are problematic from memory. However, there are emotions in football and that is why it is beautiful. I wonder how they behave now with the fans who want a more dignified national team. The fans are right, football is emotion, it's feeling, it's belonging. The fans are not stupid. In those years, people have come to the stadium to support us but also to enjoy our football. They walked from 20 to 30 km to be at the stadium where Flamurtari i Vlora played against Barcelona. Even the car that travels 30 or 50 km gets hot and tired, not the human. But the sacrifice to watch football and be with the team exceeds passion and emotion. Why did they come? Because it was organic, clean, beautiful football, we should start from there. But today football has complex interests. In terms of level, it is probably better today, but it lacks the former passion, beauty, purity, that organic production. In some European countries the stadiums are full, it's a beautiful show, that's why people love football. The stadium in Vlora was full since the morning, they came from side to side, on foot, to follow us, it was an emotion that cannot be expressed in words. My goal in Belgrade against Serbian Partizan and the qualification of Flamurtar is no exception to this emotion, to this football that left an impression. So that goal should not be seen as isolated and random. But the sacrifice to watch football and be with the team exceeds passion and emotion. Why did they come? - Yes, but the emotion in the case of your goal in Belgrade easily passes into politics, starting from the relations between our peoples, it was not easy for you either, and especially for the patriots throughout Yugoslavia at the time, that the cheering for the goal led in prison, to risk his life...

- Imprisonments have also occurred for that goal, and the goal and our qualification in 1987 should not be taken as an isolated event. I emphasize, the goals were scored full, but it was a rare goal in terms of the emotion it conveyed. On the other hand, that goal led to prison and many eyes have ended up there because they celebrated and advertised it.

Years have passed, but the goal and the event are remembered.

- You were also present in Belgrade in the October 2014 match, but it was a completely different situation, people entered the field and what happened...

- They are completely different events. In fact, that of 1987 and that of 2014 basically share the hate, but they are different in the magnitude of the display. In 1987, Yugoslavia was still united, while in 2014 it was dissolved and Kosovo was even an independent state. Even when I played, there were "animals" around the field, but the hatred was contained by the military regime. People were ready to tear down the fences, because they knew that Albania was in the hearts of Albanians everywhere in the former Yugoslavia. Serbia is now more democratic, as a regime, but their hatred towards us has remained the same.

- When you scored the goal in Belgrade (hence the qualification of Flamurtari), the achievement should not be seen outside the framework of your profile as a professional, as you were not unknown, you had already made your name in Albanian football. How were you received by our regime after that match?

- Yes, it's true, I had played 2-3 years with Flamurtar, I had tried Partizan, I had left Shpresat, I was a player of the national team. People are never distinguished by words, but by deeds. The economic side of the time was known as it was. We returned from Belgrade successful, we bought some things but at the border they kept the TV I had bought. Of course, they could turn a blind eye, after all we were the ones who had made them proud, but no, they massacred us, which did not happen to the inhabitants, who were spiritually united with us, they came before us by the thousands. they thanked from the border in Shkodër to Vlora. The power showed its face in fact, because they wanted only them to have television, only them to enjoy the good things, so that the people are not equal to them. They were extremely jealous of our popularity, our success and especially the love that the people gave us. They could not bear to remain out of attention. But the people had made the difference, people loved Sul Demollari, Kushta and others, because they gave the people pleasure, emotion, simplicity. The government tried to steal the greatness of athletes, and it does so even today. Before the elections, they go to the honest to ask for the vote, but after the elections, the first person they kick is the honest, they despise him. Perhaps the fact that they are reflecting is positive. You asked me how the regime was waiting for us, and I'm telling you, it was waiting for us with smiling faces but inside they were crying, therefore their smiling face was fake. And where better than at customs to show this. There, it was enough for an order to be given and Flagurtari passed without problems, but no, they stripped the team,

- If you could go back in time, what would you bring or what would you take away from that great event of 35 years ago?

- If I had the opportunity, I would like to have 3 quality foreign players in the team. I assure you that we would go to the UEFA final.

- Maybe you are exaggerating a little...

- No, I'm not exaggerating at all, because we had a super team and I told you, the beauty was in the fact that it was organic, clean football, whereas today the fans are disappointed by the negative phenomena and as a result, there are more empty stairs in the factories. In the match with Barcelona we lost 4-1, but if we had 2 or 3 foreign quality elements we would not have lost so deeply, maybe 2-1, but we would have returned it to Vlora. We won 1-0 in the second leg, but we were penalized by losing the first leg.

- You have taken a critical position in recent days for coach Reja through posts on social networks. What's wrong with this team, how would you describe the performance of Reja's team?

- Many have thought that I have spoken harshly, but it is not true at all, I have not shown myself like that. What I wrote I have thought well. And I'm telling you openly: if it is proven that Inter called and influenced the Asllani case, then this coach is a disgrace. He historically has problems, but in the case of a national team there are big differences. A coach must first be a psychologist for those 7-8 days that the collection takes place. The facts, which are stubborn, must be analyzed. As a coach, he has never helped the players when they are in trouble. He has abandoned the players when they need his support. And where is there a more vile coach than the one who does not protect the player? In Hysaj's case, he could intervene to protect the athlete's dignity. In terms of game management, this shamelessly, when the opponent was down one player from the tenth minute of the match, pulls the team, at a time when it should have kept the opponent under pressure. And the third, it is related to what I said a little above, with the incident of Asllan, which, if it turns out to be true, puts the stamp of infamy on it.

- Maybe the time has come to have an Albanian coach in charge of the National Team?

- Albania recently has a group of very good coaches. I can mention Daja, Josa or Shpëtim Duro, but why not any of the young people, like Shkëmbi, etc. But what worries me is the inferiority of the Albanian coach. Even before we had this feeling of inferiority. Foreigners come, even incompetent, plus palazzo and they do better for us. Reja is not a great coach, but this is a wider problem. If an Albanian takes it over, he is capable. But how much will the environment, society affect? If an Albanian technician comes in charge of the National Team, can he withstand the pressure, does he cope? That's why it's not so easy.
