The former player of Real Madrid, Arsenal and the world champion with Germany in 2014, Mesut Ozil, has decided to retire from football at the age of 34.
According to Turkish journalist Jakub Cinar, Ozil succumbed to injuries and informed club members that he would not continue playing.
Ozil started his career at Schalke 04, where he played for a year and a half, then moved to his next stop, Werder Bremen, for 5 million euros.
With the Greens he won the German Cup in 2009 and led them to the UEFA Cup final. After two years in Germany, he moved to Real Madrid in the summer of 2010.
In Madrid he won the Spanish Cup in the 2010/11 season, the championship in the 2011/12 season and the Spanish Super Cup.
In the summer of 2013, he moved to Arsenal - where he played for seven seasons, and was part of winning three FA Cups, but on the other hand, he showed quite a lack of seriousness and was treated coldly by the Gunners.
In the summer of 2020, he moved to Turkey, where he played for Fenerbahçe for two years. Then Ozil was transferred to Besikta?.
