WhatsApp announcement: You can now record short video messages directly in chats

WhatsApp announced today that users can now record and share short videos directly in chats. This is announced by Mark Zuckerberg himself.

"Video messages are a way to respond to conversations in real time and say what you want in 60 seconds. We believe they will be a fun way to share moments or deliver good news. In practice, feature is an evolution of voice messaging, which has changed the way people communicate by being able to share voice quickly and securely," Zuckerberg explained.

Sending a video message is like sending a voice message. Just click to switch to video mode and hold to record. You can also swipe up to freeze and record video automatically. Videos will automatically play in silent chat.

To activate the sound, just tap on the video. “Video messages are protected with end-to-end encryption to ensure their security.

We have already started implementing video messages and in the coming weeks they will be available to everyone."
