Rishi Sunak's Wife Richer Than British Royal Family, You Won't Believe How Much She Owns

Akshata Murty, 43, owns $1 billion worth of shares in Infosys, the Indian technology giant co-founded by her father NR Narayana Murthy in 1981 and valued at $100 billion today. This fortune is greater than that of the late Queen Elizabeth II, which amounted to about 350 million pounds (420 million euros), according to the British newspaper The Sunday Times.
Akshata grew up in the city of Bangalore with her father and under the strict upbringing of her mother Sudha Murty, the first woman to be appointed as an engineer in the Tata Motors automobile group. Akshata and her brother Rohan were banned from watching television at home and had to walk to school, unlike other children of the same economic background who traveled by the popular Indian two- or three-wheeled carriage, also known as rickshaws , drawn by a charioteer.
Akshata was born on 25 April 1980. Her early years were spent living with her grandparents as her parents, NR Narayana Murthy and Sudha Murty, soon realized that taking care of an infant could not be combined with their careers.
People magazine also conveys her father's statement that justifies this choice. “Two months after your birth in Hubli, we brought you to Mumbai, but we soon found that it was a difficult task to raise a child and manage a career at the same time. So, we decided that you should spend the first few years of your life with your grandparents in Hubli," Murthy wrote to his daughter.
Today, her 73-year-old mother Sudha Murty, who is considered by some to be "India's favorite grandmother" and is also a prolific writer, has contributed to the creation of 60,000 libraries in the country.
After finishing high school, Akshata pursued higher studies in the USA. She first studied economics and French at Claremont McKenna College in Claremont, California. In 2002, she went to Stanford University to earn an MBA and graduated from the program in 2006. She later attended the Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising in Los Angeles, where she received a degree in apparel industry management in 2013.
Akshata Murty and Rishi Sunak met at the prestigious Stanford University in California, where both were studying for Masters in Business Administration. He, from a "humble" background, studied with a scholarship. In a society with deep inequalities like India's, Akshata's father was fascinated by the personality of the young man, the son of a doctor from Southampton, Southern England. So he approved the marriage with this "brilliant, handsome and above all sincere boy". A wedding that gathered a thousand guests from the world of business, politics, media, sports, etc.
Akshata Murty launched her fashion house, Akshata Designs, in 2010, before becoming a director of the investment firm Catamaran Ventures, which she founded with her husband, in 2013. Meanwhile, the wife of the British Prime Minister e Madhe says it remains committed to social offering through charity work and generous donations to support young entrepreneurs.
In April 2022, following an uproar over her UK tax evasion, she opted to pay UK tax on her worldwide income.
"It has become clear that many do not consider the status of non-permanent residence compatible with my husband's role as prime minister. I understand and appreciate the British sense of justice and do not want my tax status to affect my family," Murty wrote in a statement on Twitter.
She continued: “My decision to pay UK tax on my worldwide income will not change the fact that India remains my country of birth, citizenship, parental residence and residence. But I also love Great Britain. During my time here I have invested in British businesses and supported British causes. My daughters are British. I am very proud to be here."
The couple have two daughters, Anushka and Krishna, while their permanent residence is in Kensington, London.
