The historical journey of the signatories of the act of Independence of Albania, an exhibition at MHK

The historical journey of the signatories of the act of Independence of Albania,

The "Road to Independence" exhibition introduces us to the historical journey of the signatories of the act of Independence of Albania, as well as artifacts that illustrate this major event. The exhibition was opened at the National Historical Museum in the framework of the 111th anniversary of the declaration of Independence in the presence of the director of MHK Entela Çipa and the acting general secretary of the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports of Kosovo Jehona Shyti. The journey of Albanian patriots, which would culminate in the declaration of Albania's Independence, had its origins on November 2, 1912, in the Pera neighborhood of Istanbul, at the meeting that took place at the Pera Palace Hotel. From Istanbul, Ismail Qemali left by ship for Constanta, Romania. In order to raise the national flag, Albanian patriots faced numerous obstacles and difficulties. On November 5, 1912, Ismail Qemali gathered the Albanian patriots at the "Continental" hotel in Bucharest, where they discussed the independence of Albania. In his speech, he emphasized: "There is no other salvation for Albania, except to find some courageous patriots and together with me enter Albania and delay its self-government". The most important figures of this gathering were: Aleksandër Stavri Drenova, Spiridon Ilo, Vasil Zografi, Pandeli Evangjeli, Luigj Gurakuqi, Dhimitër Berati, etc. They decided to hold the National Assembly with representatives from all the provinces of Albania. The proceedings of the Assembly of Vlora began on November 28, 1912, at 3:30 p.m. in the palace of the Vlora family, with the participation of 78 delegates. The Assembly of Vlora decided that "Albania should be independent, free and independent". After the signing of the Act of Declaration of Independence, Ismail Qemali, at 17:30 on November 28, 1912, went out to the balcony of the house where the assembly was working and waved the national flag, which Gjergj Kastrioti had once raised in Kruja.
