Kurti-Vucic, Bushati meeting: the EU has a golden opportunity to complete the membership of all Western Balkan countries

The former Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ditmir Bushati, reacted through a post on social networks regarding the meeting held in Ohrid between Kurti and Vucic two days ago. Bushati points out that Serbia's refusal to sign does not prove a significant commitment in this process and that Kosovo behaved quite differently, proving its willingness to sign both documents. He asks the EU to complete the membership of all Western Balkan states in the EU. "The Ohrid meeting between Kosovo and Serbia, mediated by the European Union, ended with the approval of the implementation plan of the agreement agreed on February 27. After the unanimous support of the member states of the February 27 Agreement, the Franco-German Plan was officially transformed into a European Plan, with the support of the USA. thus, The EU is no longer only in the position of mediator of the dialogue between Kosovo and Serbia, but also directly involved in the implementation of commitments. This process is related to the membership of Kosovo and Serbia in the EU. If in the past the EU has shown a lack of credibility in quite a few cases, not adhering to its commitments towards the states of the region, with this new positioning the EU has the golden opportunity to complete the process of Kosovo's citizenship, Europeanization of Serbia and the membership of all Western Balkan states in the EU, as soon as possible. The best way to respond to Russian aggression in the east of the continent is to end the consequences of the wars in the former Yugoslavia and to consolidate the European project in a geographical space surrounded by EU member states.
