Kosovo is not part of Interpol, Minister Rashic reveals how the arrest warrant was issued for Radoicic
Written by SOT.COM.AL 7 Dhjetor 2023
The international police organization, INTERPOL, issued an arrest warrant for the former vice-president of the Serbian List, Millan Radoicic, in connection with the armed attack in Banjska - the northern part of Kosovo.
The news was confirmed for Radio Free Europe by Nenad Rashi?, Minister for Communities and Return in the Government of Kosovo.
He said that the order was issued with the mediation of the United Nations mission in Kosovo, UNIMK, based on the request of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Kosovo.
Radoicic claimed responsibility for the September 24 attack in Banjska i Zvecan, where armed groups of Serbs attacked the Kosovo police, killing Sergeant Afrim Bunjaku.
In the armed clashes that followed, three more Serb attackers were killed.
Through a public letter read by his lawyer on September 29, Radoicic said that he "personally" organized the armed rebellion in the north of Kosovo.
He denied the responsibility of the Serbian state authorities in this attack.
Radoicic, the former vice-president of the Serb List in Kosovo, was questioned by the Serbian Prosecutor's Office in October and charged with several offences, including arms trafficking and causing public danger.
However, the court in Belgrade released him from detention, but confiscated his documents.
The Kosovo authorities made the Serbian state leadership responsible for the attack, while Serbia denied involvement and pointed the finger at the Kosovo Serbs./REL
