Analyst Kreshnik Spahiu stated that former Prime Minister Sali Berisha is preparing to leave the group led by him in the Democratic Party to the head of the Freedom Party, Ilir Meta.
In an interview for Euronews Albania, Spahiu gave the reasons why, according to him, something like this will happen.
"I think that in his political testament, he is preparing to leave the keys of this movement, of this party, to Ilir Meta. The first phase is being prepared with the merger of two groups, Refoundation and LSI, which precede a phase to create a joint party.
Second, Sali Berisha has invested heavily in the figure of Ilir Meta, starting from January 21 to protect Ilir Meta, from defenses in court proceedings, he has made him deputy prime minister. Sali Berisha has friendly and family ties with Ilir Meta. They are neighbors in Lalzi Bay. Today, Berisha does not have a relevant candidacy to rival the figure of Ilir Meta", he emphasized.
