"There is a lot of mystery", the Swedish Ambassador talks about the murder of Liridona Ademaj: We are working closely with the Kosovo authorities to investigate the case

"There is a lot of mystery", the Swedish Ambassador talks about the

Regarding the murder of Liridona Ademajt, an event that shocked public opinion, the ambassador of Sweden in Kosovo, Jonas Westerlund, spoke.

Westerlund commented on the murder of Liridona Ademajt, a Swedish citizen, where he said that Sweden is working closely with the Kosovo authorities to investigate this event.

Regarding the event, he said that there is a lot of mystery and it is a sensitive case.

"We are working continuously on this case together with the local authorities of Kosovo. This is a very sensitive case and there is a lot of mystery surrounding this case, I can't say more, we are working on this case together with the authorities. But I also want to emphasize that we have debated a lot in the last few days about violence against women and in the "16 days of activism against violence against women" campaign , he said.

Asked if Sweden will request the extradition of Liridona Ademaj's husband, Naim Murseli, who is accused of ordering the murder, the ambassador said that the case happened in Kosovo and that at this stage he cannot make any other comments.

"I want to underline that the violence must stop, there are more than 2000 cases reported by the police for violence against women. Over 2000 cases is too many. We have 6 cases against femicide and 20 in Europe, where 3 cases are during 2022, so enough is enough", he said.
