The editors of the "Albanian Encyclopedia" gather for information about the preparation of lists of encyclopedic units

The next meeting of the local editors of the "Albanian Encyclopedia" was organized to exchange information about the preparation of lists of encyclopedic units according to fields, their discussion with the respective editors in Kosovo, the creation of joint lists and their stabilization by avoiding repetitions and equalize the levels of representation, in order to protect the quality of the encyclopedia. The Academy of Sciences informs that the members of the local editorial office reported according to the group of fields they cover in the division of work. "Until today, 13 newsrooms have exchanged lists and agreed on the common word. It is expected that by the beginning of the week two editors will have reached a common word, while by June 25 at least the lists will have been exchanged by the rest", says ASH. According to the academy, the fact that the dictionary prepared by the editors has a significant degree of independence from encyclopedic dictionaries was found and evaluated as a positive achievement at the meeting. Referring to the total number of units that the Encyclopedia will contain (10,000 units), there is a tendency to exceed, and this, according to ASH, means that the selection should be deepened, especially in the grouping of personalities that can find a place in the units. thematic and in summary articles. "The ratio of "one in three units" for personalities must be preserved, this is a classic ratio even in the encyclopedias of other nations, with a larger number of figures of the past and present", informs ASH. Also in this meeting that took place in ASH, the importance of the examples that must be prepared by the editors of the fields and "finding equals" among personalities, places and events was emphasized. It was also requested the integration of the word proposed by the special editorial office of the Albanian heritage in North Macedonia in the joint lists. According to ASH, maintaining the relationships between the fields in their specific weight against the work as a whole and with each other was another issue discussed.
