Storm in the Greek government! Mitsotakis changes four ministers and seven deputy/ministers

Five days after a poor result for the conservatives in the EP elections, although they are still in the lead, Greek Prime Minister and New Democracy leader Kyriakos Mitsotakis reformed his government, in an attempt to show Greeks that he got the message from the ballot box.

He has changed 5 ministers, four of them have come out of the government scheme, while one has changed his portfolio. But also 7 deputy ministers are no longer part of the government cabinet. Meanwhile, he kept his foreign and finance ministers to show the continuity of the policy.

Among the main changes, the replacement of the Minister of the Interior stands out after the scandal of the leaking of e-mails of homogeneous Greeks, and her place is taken by Mr. Theodhoros Livanios.

Also, the former Minister of Order, Takis Theodorikakos takes over the Ministry of Development. The Minister of Labor NGA Mrs. Nikis Kerameos is also replaced, along with the deputy/minister of this department.

Former Minister of Defense Nikos Panajotopoulos is at the head of the Ministry of Immigration, while the Minister of Rural Development is also replaced by Kostas Tsiaras.

Even the post of deputy minister of Macedonia and Thrace, the minister based in Thessaloniki for meaningful reasons, is taken by Kostas Gjulekas, a well-known politician in Albania.

New Democracy lost more than 13 points, or nearly 1 million votes, in 10 months, in Sunday's elections, when even the non-participation marked a record since 1974, which has been interpreted as Greeks' disenchantment with politics and mainly with government policy. .

With this movement, Mitsotakis seeks to improve the work of his government in those critical positions where citizens' dissatisfaction is also expressed, such as poor efficiency in the face of the high cost and decline in the standard of living, problems in the agricultural sector, criminality, lack of labor force, immigration and the increase in the power of the extreme right, especially in Northern Greece, so many of the new members come from this area and from different prefectures of the country.

After the swearing in of new ministers and deputy ministers on Friday afternoon, the first meeting of the new cabinet is scheduled for Saturday morning.
