Attention at all costs: Rama the wizard of negative publicity

Charlatans have been around for centuries. They sold methods and potions that would promise immortality and perfect health and showed alchemical quick methods to wealth. They initially concentrated on small groups until, by chance, they discovered a truth of human nature: the larger the group they gathered around themselves, the easier it was to deceive, because people were more emotional and less able to reasoned. Any shortcomings in the charlatan's ideas were hidden by the zeal of the mass. Passion gripped the crowd like a contagion, and they reacted violently to anyone who dared to spread suspicion. Through decades of studying this dynamic and experimenting, charlatans perfected the science of attracting and retaining a crowd, molding the crowd into followers and the followers into a cult.

The tricks of charlatans may seem strange today, but there are thousands of them still among us, using the same tried and true methods that their ancestors refined centuries ago, only changing the names of their methods and modernizing the appearance of their cults. We find them in business, fashion, politics, art. Many are following the charlatan tradition without knowledge of its history.

The beginning is about getting attention at all costs. Not illegal or shady methods, but everything else is on the table. As Oscar Wilde said, "There is only one thing in life worse than being talked about, and that is not being talked about." Robert Greene who is considered a modern-day Machiavelli says: “Draw attention to yourself by creating a memorable, even controversial, image. Don't be afraid of scandal in court or anywhere. Do everything to make yourself appear larger than life and outshine those around you. Don't differentiate between types of attention - fame of any kind will bring you power. Better to be slandered and attacked than to be ignored.” He continues: “Society wants larger-than-life figures, people who stand above the general mediocrity. Do not be afraid, therefore, of the qualities that set you apart and draw attention to you, nor of judicial controversies, nor even of scandals".

A historical example of someone who failed to attract attention is the Dutch painter Vincent van Gogh. Despite his undeniable talent, van Gogh sold only one painting in his lifetime and died in obscurity. Only after his death did his work gain widespread recognition and appreciation. Likewise, the world-famous writer Franz Kafka managed to sell only a few stories

Në momentin që ne i japim pushtet sharlatanit,ne pushojmë së menduari dhe gjykuari. Vetëm budallenjtë dhe sharlatanët dinë gjithçka dhe nuk kuptojnë asgjë.

Komunistët me në krye sharlatanin Enver Hoxha premtuan lugën e florinjtë dhe mbollën varfëri, premtuan barazi sociale dhe mbollën terror, eleminuan fenë dhe e zevëndësuan atë me fenë e komunizmit dhe rrolin e zotit e morri Enver Hoxha. Sa herë që dështonin gjenin armiq të brendshëm e të jashtëm, duke premtuar ditë më të mira.

Përmbysja e komunizmit nuk solli përmbysjen e kulturës, si rrjedhim as përmbysjen e sharlatanëve. Kultura jonë e prirur të besojmë në magjiken dhe hierarkinë, totalisht e ndryshme nga perëndimi që beson në idetë dhe humanizmin, është e prirur të krijojë kulte dhe zgjidhje magjike të problemeve. Si e tillë pas viteve 90 me fitoren e demokracisë, luga e floririt u zëvëndësua me çekun e bardhë dhe kulti i sekretarit të Partisë së Punës me kryetarin e PD apo PS etj. Përjashtimet dhe vrasjet e armiqëve të Partisë u zëvëndësuan me burgosjen e kundështarëve politik dhe me presione dhe largime masive nga Partitë politike dhe ndërkohë liderët e partive rrethoheshin nga besnikët e tyre që brohorisnin për liderin e tyre.

He received the biggest publicity from his political opponents, describing him as a thief of icons or as a degenerate with nude photos and sharing some women, etc. These have only increased his fame and given him peaceful credits, but which many people believe, turning his figure into a cult. He has managed to create the image through the words of his opponents that he has manipulated American, English and European politics to the detriment of his political opponents. Even Fredi Beleri's election as an MEP is a product of drawing attention to Edi Rama's actions, but his opponent and Greek counterpart Micotaqis took advantage and did the impossible, that a criminal and ignorant unknown in Greece, was elected as MEP. Rama seems to be becoming even more famous, but this time in the international arena. It seems as if Rama is challenging President Trump who says: "Good publicity is preferable to bad publicity, but from a final point of view, bad publicity is sometimes better than no publicity at all." In short, controversy works". Rama prefers negative publicity, turning it in his favor.

It seems like Rama has everything under control, but in fact he cannot control himself. He is incapable of long-term and sustainable strategy because all this "success" is built on a trick, so he cannot play for a long time. He sacrifices powerful allies in the name of attracting attention, and corruption and the cult of the individual are eroding his position. The question is should we as individuals, as a society and as a nation wait until these charlatans collapse and then fall prey to the next charlatan, or develop critical thinking and be skeptical that not all that glitters is gold and that all people are basically the same, Let's not forget that those who seek power with great zeal are the most dangerous people in society.
